Brad Hook
Biography
Brad Hook graduated from the Ray Vogue School of Design, in Chicago with a degree in commercial art. His graphic design studio was always his bread and butter but he also found time for pottery, photography and painting. Currently his focus is on encaustic.
Artist Statement
Art has always played an important part in my life. I have always been directed towards surface, materials and process. Encaustics give me the opportunity to introduce texture, and collage, I can embed paper and found objects into the wax. Applying and removed layers through a process of creation and destruction can build the varied surfaces that reminds me of the rare beauty of imperfections and richness of wear and life.
