Bijou at Brickton Exhibit, March 2018
This month FUSEDChicago has a member show up at the Brickton Art Center. Bijou at Brickton features small art works that showcase different encaustic techniques on a substrate of 10×10 inches or less.
Board President Cindy Lesperance and Board Vice President Carol Hamilton hung the show, and the way it came together is lovely.
All artists only had the size restriction, and submitted pieces independent of each other. The show features:
Cat Crotchett, Linda Sorkin-Eisenberg, April Nomellini, Cindy Lesperance, Michele Thrane
Karen Tichy, Kathy Roman, Alicia Forestall-Boehm, Cat Crotchett, Kathleen Waterloo, Maike’s Marvels, Linda Sorkin-Eisenberg, Meridee Hodges
Carol Myers, Cindy Lesperance, Kathleen Waterloo, Carrie Baxter, Laura LaRue, Michele Thrane, Carol Hamilton, Meridee Hodges, Kathy Roman, Dan Addington, Carol Hamilton, Dan Addington, Barbara Murphy, Barbara Murphy, Mary Krebs Smythe, Carol Myers
You can peruse the show until March 24 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am-5pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm, as well as during class hours. The Brickton Art Center is closed Fridays and Sundays. The Bijou at Brickton closing reception with FUSEDChicago takes place Saturday, March 24 from 5 to 7 pm at Brickton Art Center, 306 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, Illinois. Come out and meet our members!
Texture is created via photo transfer, layering, and heat. Materials, the manner of application and mark-making also play a big part in how the encaustic paint interacts with a substrate.
