Artist Statement

My inspiration comes from nature, life experiences, past travels, and my surrounding environment. The art of creating allows me to connect with inner peace and harmony. The ability to reduce an image or subject to its simplest form and embrace its imperfections through encaustic media technique culminates balance. I incorporate organic mark-making evolved from ancient Chinese calligraphic strokes and mantras into my processes as a means of meditation. Taking time to slow down my thoughts allows me to genuinely appreciate and show gratitude to life and what it has to offer.
